Un-bricking WRT54G and upgrading firmware

If you have one of the Linksys WRT54G wireless router and you’re using the standard firmware, then you’ve probably noticed the horrible stability of the router. Mine (WRT54G v8) had to be reset every 2-3 days especially after downloading from BT (BitTorrent). And at times, during reset, the router will just “brick” up temporarily. No technique of resetting will get it to work. All I can do is leave it for a couple of days and perform a 30-30-30 hard reset again.

So, finally, after surfing around, I found a custom firmware that I could use for the router. DD-WRT is a custom firmware made primarily for the Linksys WRT54G. After the upgrade, I noticed that the router is so much more reliable. Also, there’s additional features included in the custom firmware that is not on the standard version.

If you have a Linksys WRT54G, I would suggest to upgrade. =)

Updates from iPhone

So, after a very long time, here I am getting my lazy butt working on my site. I’ve recently installed the Wordpress app on my iPhone and this is my first attempt at blogging from my phone.

There are some limitations on this app. I can only blog in simple text. I can’t include any HTML tags while blogging on the iPhone. Makes me wonder how I will be able to make a “quote” or like a numbered list, etc…

Nonetheless, this actually trains my typing skills on my phone and also it’s a lot easier for me to just post a short blog.

Site resconstruction

Site is going through some overhaul. I’m using a theme from Julian called Rainbow Feather. I had planned to put a picture slideshow on the main page but its such a pain trying to update the pictures and all. Anyway, I’ve added Twitter to the sidebar which will basically be easy enough for me to update from my phone. Also, I’ve just installed Wordpress for iPhone which again hopefully will allow me to blog a little more. =P

Anyway, some of the new site ideas still applies below except for the photo gallery.

Displays only one post at a time. Less pressure to posts many posts just to fill up the page.
Twitter to provide a more easier platform to update status or what I’m currently doing
A photo gallery to display random photos that I hope to be taking. Thinking of purchasing SlideShowPro.
Link to Facebook. Since almost everyone has a Facebook account.
Let Facebook take care of the rest… Lazy already…
